Netbook Reflection

I have been using my netbook for three years now and I have learnt a lot from my netbook. I know what the good websites are and what the bad sites are. Using a netbook has really changed how I think and learn.

I have learnt a lot my teacher’s, they have taught me about Decimals, Maths Strategies and helped me a lot with my WRITING!!!

There are a lot of different ways to learn like, instead of maths worksheets we have maths website’s called Maths Whizz and Xtramath. We can also do a lot of things on Google Drive too, like creating, Documents, Presentations, Forms and Drawing. I have really enjoyed using my netbook this year because it has really helped me with my learning and sports.
Using Bogger is really helpful because I can post my stories on the internet and others people can read it. I have been using Blogger for four years. In the holidays I don’t usually write stories but I will really try too.

I have really enjoyed using my netbook this year and hope to use until college!

Prizegiving

Prizegiving was really hot and it was also packed with parents too. Mr Burt introduced himself to the parents and started to talk about the students and how we were all doing good at our learning. After Mr Burt finished speaking he called out the names for the prizes. A lot of people got a prize for sports and academic. After the years five’s awards were over it was time for their performance.  The Year five’s item was really cool and fun to watch because the moves were big and they were smiling.

After the year’s five item was finished Mr burt called up the Year six’s to get their awards and prizes. There were more awards than the year five’s because the year six’s had to have a sportsman of the year and a sportswoman, and they had more awards for different things also. The years six’s item was really funky because they danced to the trouble maker song and they went all out too.

After the year six’s item they announced the the academic, 100% Attendance, House Captains, Prefects and the helpful people in the school for the year sevens. I got one award which was for 2014 prefect, I was really happy that I got the award. My parents were really happy with me. When the year sevens awards and prizes were over it was time for our year seven item. Our item was really amazing because we had dancing in it as well as a play. We all enjoyed dancing and acting.

As the last awards for the years eights were handed it was soon the year eights item. As soon as their dance started all you could hear was the crowd screaming. Just as they finished the whole school sat down and turn to the audience and sung our school song.

I wonder if next years prizegiving is going to be better than this years?

Action World

''Yus'' I said to myself, I couldn't wait to get on the bus and make our way to Action World. I was so happy when the year 8's were gone!! While we were riding on the motorway some kids decided to play a game called sweet & sour. If you haven't heard of the game well it goes like this. You would have to play with another person and you would have to wave to the person in the other car and if they reply they are sweet but if they don't they are sour.

As we arrived at action world we hopped out of the bus and walked to the front gate.  As soon as we walked pass the office we saw a man and 4 instructors waiting for us. Our teachers split us up into groups and got two leaders. My group's two leaders were Miss Va'afusuaga  and Mrs Samuels.

When the instructor finished telling us the rules we got straight into it. Our first event was a weird swinging monkey bars.
This was fun but I don't think it was really exciting because it was just the same as swinging on the monkey bars at school.

I had lots of fun there I hope I could go again!

Assembly

As we all sat down for assembly this morning the band was playing on the stage while the singers sang. When Crusader finished off his mihi the school sang the national anthem. I was really happy for crusader because he learnt the last mihi lines this morning. The new song that we sang today was a really cheerful song. I was a little bit tired but I just kept myself together.

I felt great when they called my name up for the player of the day award for yesterday’s game. The score was 36-4. The band performed as we all departed from the hall.

Future Aspirations

I wasn’t very excited about future aspirations because I had never had this kind of experience before. I never knew that a year 7 student could finish years thirteen maths science and biology.

Tristen Pang is a year 7 student he is probably the brainiest year 7 student for science and maths in auckland. He talked to us about his life and what kind of work and studies he does. As he was talking he also said that it is good to be nosy about school work. He is very smart and has finished year thirteen maths, science and biology. He is so smart that he is going to AUT next year.

I was very inspired by tristen because he was only a year seven student and is going university. Only if we could all be like him!

I Heard A Whisper

I HEARD A WHISPER

Huffing and puffing as I carried myself to the top of the mountain, I gazed at the amazing view. Taking a few more steps I made it to the top and stopped for a drink. When I looked around I saw nobody else but me. “This is very unusual” I said quietly to myself. A few minutes later I heard a whisper but no one was there, they said “Hi don’t be afraid”. Suddenly as I turned around I saw a big clawed bird staring at me as if it wanted some thing. As I walked home I could feel the bones inside me start to click.

As I sat down I got out a book and started reading a book. Out of nowhere my dog Snickers came running to me and started to bark. I was a little bit scared so I grasped onto the baseball bat that was next to the fire place and held up in the air while walking to the door. As soon as I put my hand on the door knob I heard another whisper say come follow me and I will give great fortune. I was very happy but curios at the same time! When I looked at the window I saw the same bad looking bird that was at the mountain.

I had a very bad time sleeping, I still was curios about the whispering. I had a feeling that it had something to do with the bird that I saw at the window.

When I woke up I got ready to go for a run in the morning like I always do. Just as I had left the house I put on my shoes and started running around the block. “I’m almost there just a few more steps” I whispered to myself. On the corner of my eye I saw that same bird flying in a alley and so I started to follow him. The bird flew into a strange looking house that looked like it got abandoned.

I walked inside and saw that the bird was holding a knife in his claws. I was very scared but I saw something attached around the birds neck. It looked like a sound device. I think that the bird wanted me to cut off the device that was around it’s neck. Just as I had grabbed the knife I heard another whisper but it came from the sound device that was around the birds neck. Finally I knew what was the whisper, it was the sound device coming from the bird. I cut it off and was very happy that I did. “But why was there in the first place” I said to myself, well I guess that it is a mystery!

Athletics

I wasn't really prepared for athletics but I still participated anyway. The house colour I was in was Te Arawa which was red. Walking out to the courts I looked around and saw a lot of other house colours like Matatua (green) Takitimu (yellow) and Tainui (blue).

As we walked to our first course I saw sack bags lying on the ground and a very long rope. I knew straight away that we were going to have a sack race and play tug of war. I wasn't really happy with the event we got put to first. My team didn't win but the good thing is that we had fun. When we played tug of war my team won I was so happy, but then we played against the other team that won but we lost. At least we won for once.

I had a lot of fun at athletics and hope next years one will be even better.

First Day Of School

Today we had 40 minutes to write about our first day of school. From looking at our writing we are going to set some writing goals for the term.

I wasn't really excited for school because I would rather stay home watch cartoons and eat . As I got ready for school I put on my uniform slipped on my shoes and walked slowly to the car. When I jumped in the car my mum shut my door and waved good bye to me as my dad drove off.

Just as I arrived I looked out of my window and saw kids playing outside running around and having fun. I didn't know why because I thought that school was for learning but it seemed okay to me. Walking into my new classroom room 5 I felt nervous and shy because I didn't know any of those people and it freaked me out how they all looked at me. My new teacher was Mrs she ,she was a very nice teacher to me because that was the only teacher I knew other than Mrs Jarman..

I got shown the toilets and the drinking fountains. The first thing I learnt was how to spell my name on the computer. A girl called Sylvia helped me spell my name. When the bell rung it was morning tea time. I guess school isn't that bad!!

My second piece of writing.

As soon as I woke up I ran to my mum and dad and started to jump on there bed. “Wake up wake up it’s my first day of school” I screamed.  I was really happy that I had finished kindergarten, I was actually more excited for my first day of school I finally wouldn't have to wait home all day getting bored to death.  I enjoyed kindergarten very much but was hoping I could learn better at school.

As I got ready for school I put on my uniform slipped on my shoes and ran to the car. When I jumped in the car my mum shut my door. “Have a good day”, said my mum and waved good bye to me as my dad drove off.

Just as I arrived I looked out of my window and saw kids playing outside running around and having fun. Dad I thought school was for learning I did not know you were allowed to play?I didn't know why because I thought that school was for learning but it seemed okay to me.

Walking into my new classroom my nerves just hit me and I clenched my hands as if I was in a boxing match. My new class was room 5 I felt nervous and shy because I didn't know any of those people and it freaked me out how they all looked at me. My new teacher was Mrs she “ welcome Uili this is room five I hope you enjoy your first day of school” said Mrs She. Mrs She was a very nice teacher to me, because she was the only teacher I knew other than Mrs Jarman.

I got shown the toilets and the drinking fountains. The first thing I learnt was how to spell my name on the computer. A girl called Sylvia helped me spell my name. When the bell rung it was morning tea time. I guess school isn't that bad!

Movie Reflection

We did not really plan I just started to animate and my D.L.O was an animation. I did not film because I didn’t want too. It was only a 22 second animation but I was happy with it. Our animation was about Nelson Mandela and where he was born. It wasn’t much but I tried my best. The voice over was a little bit too loud and we had little kids in the background anyways. We didn’t say our words very clearly.

The animation was very short but very good. It had a lot of detail and told a very good story.
I think it connected very well from one scene to the next. It wasn’t much but at least I got some thing done. I think me and TJ worked very well together, the only thing he did was the voice over. I was really happy with our movie.

Counties Manukau VS Taranaki

When the Counties Manukau Rugby game appeared on the T.V screen I got really excited and DIDN’T think about leaving the lounge. The Manukau team had a game against the Taranaki rugby team. Counties had an epic win last week against Hawke’s Bay in Napier. I wonder if they can still hold onto the shield.

As Counties kicked off the went running to tackle, Stowers take them over halfway. When Hika Elliot scored the first opening try I was so happy because it was only 4 minutes into the game . Counties scored a lot of tries while Taranaki scored only one. The game was really tough, NAHH just kidding Taranaki got smashed by Manukau. It was full time and the score was 44-7.

At the end of the day Manukau made a great win while Taranaki went home sad.

Springbok Tour

''1 2 3 4 we don't want no racist tour'' we shouted. Marching down the road I could see the stadium which was not that far from where we were. As we arrived at the stadium we ripped down the gates and went running onto the fields so they wouldn't play the game. The crowd threw a lot of rubbish at us but we just marched onto the field loud and proud. The whole crowd were throwing bottles at us filled or not, but that didn’t stop us from marching onwards.

We were protesting against the Springboks South Africa rugby team, the rest of the world were boycotting the Springbok team because they were a racist country . The world was exerting South Africa to make a change, to abolish the apartheid.  Some New Zealanders did not want the All Blacks to play the springbok team, while the rugby fans thought the opposite way.  Sports and politics shouldn't mix.

After all the chanting and fighting a few minutes passed and the crowd were still throwing rubbish at us. Soon the game was canceled and the rugby fans were booing us. We were happy that the game was canceled. The Springbok tour only lasted 56 days.

Rainbows End

As we entered the front gate of Rainbows End we saw that the place was empty. We were one of the first people in, so we rushed to the bumper kart's as quick as we could and finally hopped in one of the kart's and started riding. When the ride was over we rushed to the bumper boats and when I arrived the line was very short. The longer I waited the more people would come, when it was my turn people from my school went on one of the boats. One of them got me all wet when they bumped in to me I was really angry so I went to line up for the invader.

I was really happy that I got to go on the invader because I hadn't been there for a very long time. My favourite part on the ride was when I got to the top and came spinning back down. If you don't know what the invader looks like than click here. ''Whoo Hooo'' I said. The ride was over, but I still wanted to go on again and even if I could I don't think it would be very fun waiting in line. So I asked Jabez ''Would you like to go on the Power Surge with me'' I said amazingly. ''SURE'' Jabez Replied.

Jabez and I were really excited to ride the Power Surge. When both of us were seated the ride began and it started to rise and as it did our seats wiggled side to side as the Power Surge was spinning around. When \the ride slowed down it was getting lower and as soon as I was on the ground I quickly ran off looking for another cool joyride to go on.

As the hours passed the day went darker and soon it started to rain. I was really sad because some rides closed because it was to wet to go on. A few more hours passed and then the rides were back on and the sun came back out. I was really happy with the day and I want to say a big thank you to Miss Va'afusuanga for dropping me off home and for driving me to Rainbows End. I hope I could go Rainbows End again.

Martin Luther King

This week is the 50th Anniversary for Martin Luther King’s speech about his dream . Martin Luther King is famous for his long fight for equal rights against the whites.

Martin Luther King was born on January 15th 1929 in Atlanta, Georgia, United States. He was very good at his school work and he also went to Boston University for a year and soon became a lawyer. His father was a minister. He wanted the black people to have the same equal rights and opportunities as the whites..  The schools were separated from black and white’s.

In America when black people were in poverty, wherever they went on a bus they always had to sit at the back of the bus. Sometimes when there is no more seats for the whites the black people would have to give up their seats. Rosa Park is a black women that refused to give up her seat, she didn't get up so she was arrested. After that happened the black people didn’t go on the bus and started protesting. They all boycotted the bus so the bus drivers can lose their money and the blacks could go on the bus and sit any where.

Soon after a few years Martin became a minister and the blacks from there on could have the same civil rights as the whites. This all happened because Martin Luther King fought for civil rights. Martin Luther King was assassinated on April the 4th 1968.

Creative Strand Bruno Mars Treasure

I think we did our best to try to make the movie flow with the acting and the music. I’m not sure if it was the best movie but at least we got something done. I was happy with it because the music went good with the acting and I think the moral of the story was, don’t get your hopes up. I think that they showed a lot of emotion when they were lip singing the song, they also did very good acting too.

I reckon our settings were ok but we didn't use any animations because we did not have much time to do it.   I’m not 100% sure that the movie was the best, but I think it was pretty good. The cool thing was that everyone in my group took part and did something involving the movie.  We were able to plan and agree with each other. Nothing was an issue except the weather. We managed to get our movie finished in time and we were happy with what we had worked on.

Cross Country

Cross Country

As the whole school walked to the courts to sit down everyone was in there house colours. When everyone was seated Mr Burt introduced the helpers from Tamaki College and after that the house captains said there cheers. The first runners to start running were the five year old girls and then the five year old boys. It was really burning sitting on the courts so the whole of the intermediate walked across the field and sat under the tall trees.

It was much better in the shade because it was cooler. It was very nerve racking watching the others ready to race. As the runners past the intermediate when we were sitting down, we cheered for them. It took a very long time until it was my race. The year seven boys walked up to the line and listened to what Mr Burt was telling us. As Mr Burt turned on the siran my friends all started sprinting and they all left me hanging at the back. A few minutes passed and a lot of them were already slowing down. Reaching the reserve I was almost going to stop but then I saw some boys behind me and I started to jog faster.

I ran the first lap nonstop and when I was on my second lap I ran past the year eight boys that were getting ready to race. I finished the race a few minutes after the bell rang. I washed my feet and then I went back to class. I was really tired so I went home had a shower and went to sleep.

Nelson Mandela & Martin Luther King

Nelson Mandela and Martin Luther King were both inspiring people and still are to this day. They both created Important history and suffered to try to make things right with the white people. Both of them wanted the black people to have the same rights as the whites. There lives were not so good there were a lot of violence and murders.

Nelson Mandela was born on the 18th of July 1918 in South Africa-Transkei . He was later given the name nelson by a teacher at his school. The years had passed and when Nelson was nine his father died and he was looked after by Jongintaba Dalindyebo. Nelson was very good at his school work. Nelson Mandela was famous for his long fight against bad government and racial prejudice. He went to prison for 27 years from 1962 to 1990. He was sent to prison for trying to make his civil rights as the same as the white people. 4 years later he became president in 1994 and retired in 1999.

Sports B-2

Sport is one of the most important things that we all need to do because we have to stay fit and healthy. We have to get a lot of exercise if you are an athlete and a person that likes to play sports. I wouldn't say that I'm fit but I am very competitive and I do love sports! My two favourite sports of all time is Rugby and League.

Usain Bolt is one of my favourite athletes because he holds the record for 100m sprints and 200m sprints. Usain is a Jamaican sprinter and is regarded as the fastest person. Believe it or not his first ever sport he liked to play was cricket, which he still plays.

Three Little Pig's Narrative

Once upon a time there were three little pigs that noticed a huge wolf wandering in the woods. The three pigs names were Jil, Joel and Adam. They weren’t scared of the wolf because they were pretty big pigs and knew how to do Tae kwon do. The three little pigs asked the wolf if he could play hide and go seek with them. Adam told Wolfy if he could count to 100 while they go away to hide. Wolfy said “yes of course I will”.

As soon as Wolfy was done counting, he started to search for the pigs. He looked in the bushes and in every cottage and hut in the woods. But the three little pigs were nowhere to be found. He was getting frustrated so he started to blow down each of the pigs houses. First he blew down the house made of straw. It was Jil’s house. Then he blew down the house made out of wood which belonged to Joel.

When he arrived at Adam’s brick house he busted the door open and said “come out come out wherever you are”. LIttle did he know that the pigs had organised a surprise party for him and had invited the people from the village to come along. It was too dark for him to see so he turned the light on. When he turned around all the villagers screamed when they saw the wolf and ran off!!

The wolf said “what's for supper”. Then the pigs said “YOU”!. The wolf ran  as fast as he could the pigs had surrounded him. “There is nowhere  you can go” the pigs said. Wolfy started moaning saying “please forgive me for what I have done, I will do anything for you pig’s but PLEASE DON'T EAT ME.”

“Ok the one and only thing I want you to do is to go FAR FAR away from here so we “NEVER SEE YOUR FACE AGAIN” ADAM shouted. Adam did not even finish his sentence and just like that Wolfy got so scared he ran off. A few months passed and we never have seen wolfy again. We all lived happily ever after.

ooblek Experiment

Did you guys know what happens when you mix corn flour and water?Well my class did an experiment about it and guess what it turned into, OOBLECK!!!! The oobleck felt really gooey when I picked it up. The most interesting thing about the oobleck was that when it was inside the bowl and when I touch it it feels really hard compared to when you pick it up. If you haven’t tried this experiment well you should!!

Creativity Reflection

I felt really happy that I chose filming because I love doing it and I got to do it with my friends. I felt so excited because I got to act and film, but the cool thing was I haven’t got to video a movie in a really long time.

The first most interesting thing this week I noticed was  everyone that acted in a movie was wearing a costume. The second thing I noticed was there was less people in the filming group than the Drawing and Art group.

The thing I did not enjoy was the weather because it was so muddy outside and it always rains. But that didn’t stop us from filming.

The thing I enjoyed was acting in the movie because it was the first movie I have ever acted in this term. The second thing I really enjoyed was that I could see everyone having fun and enjoying what they were doing.

I learnt how to cut off the music on imovie. The second thing I learnt was how to use a flipvideo.

The thing I need to work on for next time is preparing the costumes for my act and to manage my time very wisely.
