Christchurch Story
On Tuesday the 22ed of February 2011, Christchurch was shaken by a 6.3 magnitude earthquake, of 5km depth at 12.51pm. Heart breaking scenes were shown, as some of the buildings just collapsed. There were a lot of people inside that were injured and trapped.They need help from rescuers and donations. Hope is held for people that are still stuck in the rubble, that they are still alive. Many people have nowhere to sleep tonight. Some homes are so dangerous that the police officers have had to evacuate the whole city. Many people slept in their car and some of the families had to sleep at the park.Rescuers are still trying to search for some survivors. They even continued to search through the night, in the hope of finding people alive.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts in this post as well as some good facts. It is heart-breaking seeing all the images on TV. I am in Rotorua on a conference with lots of other teachers and Mrs Burt and lots of people here are either from Christchurch or have family or friends there.....a very sad time for NZ.
